When you don't have what you absolutely need, it's sometimes easy to improvise! I don't currently own any Graduation Stamps, so for this card I used the Well Scripted stamp set that is now retired, and created my own hat using a 2 1/2" square of Basic Black Card Stock and an additional strip underneath to lift it from the page. I then attached a handmade tassel to the top using a glue dot, and stuck the whole thing on the front of the card with Sticky Strip. I finished it off with two crystal brads and a spray of Silver Shimmer Paint. Super Easy!

Weekend Sketch Challenge
A Little Card Candy
This past week I gave away some card candy to a fan on my Facebook page. Hannah will be receiving the Flower Lines Stamp Set, and some DSP samples. I added in a teeny bit of Card Candy to go with it all.
I also had a brainstorm while I was packaging this all up to send out. I included some pages from old Minis that I had left over just for inspiration. I can't wait to see what she creates with her samples!
Baby Card

This card was created for a baby shower. I used Animal Crackers from Stampin'Up!for the Image. This set is so versatile I have used the images to make Christmas Cards, Valentines, and Birthdays. I may even use it for a scrapbook camp project.

Experimenting with a NEW COLOR!

Weekends are for stamping, and I have stamped so much my back is killing me!
But enough complaining!
I pass by an old farm house with an enormous Azalea bush in front of it with gorgeous deep pink blossoms each day on my way to work. I have been wanting to create something with those same colors all week. I have also been thinking about the new sheet of Early Espresso that's been sitting on my desk for a couple of weeks!
I also used the Smooch Spritz in Log Cabin. It's interesting how the different colors seems so totally different in all ways. The Log Cabin seems to float in the air for a few seconds before settling on the paper. One spritz is almost too much! On the other hand I have used the Vanilla on three projects and almost 1/3 of the bottle is gone! But it's so pretty it's hard to stop after one spray :)
Here is my creation made with preview products from the new Stampin' Up Mini and Color Renovation samples. I used Mellow Moss and old olive on the leaves and think I will truly miss the Mellow Moss when it's gone! As for the ribbon the Chocolate Chip looks good, but if I had it in Satin I would have used that instead, for a more vintage look.

Monday's Technique
Did you know there are various types of flowers that you can create using your large punches? The top flower was made using the Large Fancy Flower Punch by Stampin' Up. Saturating the flowers in water, drying them slightly, assembling and then rubbing the edges against an ink pad.
The bottom one was made by punching 6 scallop circles, crumpling them up, assembling them using a fancy brad, and then arranging the layers until satisfied. Join me for my studio nights to try one yourself! Call or email me for more information.

Monday's Lunchbox Note
I'm off to work very early this morning and I won't be seeing Emma off to the bus, so I made her this lunchbox note. It was case'd from last September's issue of Stampin' Success Magazine. I hope it makes her smile when she reads it!
Supplies:
Card Stock: Old Olive, Real Red, Pretty In Pink, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, So Saffron.
Embellishments: Red Brads and Hugs Notes from the current Mini.
Ink: Real Red
Punches: 1 3/8' Circle, 1/2' Circle, Scallop Edge
I hope everyone had a great Easter. I will post pics of my last minute Easter projects later, when I can find the camera cable without waking everyone up.
I think I just brewed the world's weakest pot of coffee - off to make more. Have a great Monday Bloggy Friends!

Awash with Flowers

I spent this past weekend hanging out with my family, and stamping. Saturday I spent most of the day organizing materials - again! - and putting all of my card stock and scraps into individual file folders - I couldn't believe how much work that was! Sunday was much more fun because I spent the day stamping with a good friend. The card with the blues is the card we created using the Awash With Flowers, a preview from the new SU Idea Book and Catalog that will be released next summer.
The first card was cased from Iliana Crouse's blog. I love her color combinations, and I'm not sure this was what she used but the nearest I can figure it is!
